Panhou Retreat responsible staff guide

Simple actions you can take every day to protect people, nature, and culture in Tuyen Quang

At Panhou Retreat, sustainability is at the heart of what we do. By working here, you are part of our mission to care for the forest, rivers, and communities that surround us. Every small action counts — together, we make a big difference.

1. Supporting our community

•  Respect local people: Always treat villagers and guests with courtesy. Ask permission before taking photos, especially of children.
•  Protect traditions: Our guests come to learn about traditional cultures. Share with pride, but always with respect and authenticity.
•  Be a good neighbor: Support local farmers and artisans by recommending their products and services.
•  Protect vulnerable people: If you ever suspect a child or adult is being exploited, abused, or trafficked, inform your manager immediately.

2. Caring for the environment

•  Protecting nature & wildlife: Separate waste correctly – recycling, compost, and general waste. Never burn plastic.
•  Food: Help reduce food waste. Prepare and serve only what is needed. Compost food scraps to nourish our garden.
•  Energy: Turn off fans, lights, and machines when not in use. Keep doors/windows closed when air-conditioning is on.
•  Water: Don’t leave taps running. Report leaks immediately. Use low-flush toilet options when possible.
•  Chemicals: Use cleaning products safely and never overuse. Avoid harmful substances that can damage our rivers and gardens.
•  Transport: If possible, share rides with colleagues or use bicycles to reduce pollution.

3. Protecting nature & wildlife

•  Forest care: Stay on marked trails when guiding guests. Do not pick plants, herbs, or stones from natural areas.
•  Wildlife: Never feed or handle wild animals. It can harm them and put people at risk.
•  Sacred sites: Show respect at cultural or spiritual places. Guide guests to do the same.

4. Working at Panhou

•  Fair workplace: Everyone has the right to equal opportunities, respect, and safety. We do not allow discrimination or harassment.
•  Health & safety: Use protective equipment when needed. Keep your work area clean and safe.
•  Teamwork: Share ideas on how we can improve. If you see something wasteful or unsafe, speak up, your voice matters.

5. Be proud, be responsible

By following these simple actions, you help Panhou Retreat:

•  Protect our forests, rivers, and wildlife
•  Share local traditions with authenticity
•  Support local families
•  Create a safe, fair, and welcoming retreat

Together, we make Panhou a place where every guest, staff member, and community member feels respected, safe, and connected to nature.
